What curriculum do you use?  How do I know if my child is learning/developing at the right pace?

We use the Creative Curriculum developed by Teaching Strategies. The Creative Curriculum is a framework designed around thematic units to support children's development in all areas. For more information about the Creative Curriculum, go to their website:  http://www.teachingstrategies.com/

All of our instruction is based on the new Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS)  These standards help teachers, parents, and caregivers to know if young children are developing and learning at the right pace.  Remember that young children learn, grow, and develop at their own pace. To view the standards and get more information about the GELDS, visit their website:  www.gelds.decal.ga.gov

Do you provide meals?

Yes, we provide breakfast, lunch, and snack.  Menus are posted in the lobby or in the classrooms of each center and will vary by location. We do not serve beef or pork.  If your child has special dietary needs, such as allergies or religious practices, you must provide documentation in order for us to provide an alternate meal.  No outside food can be brought into the center other than for holidays or birthdays...and that must be store-bought in original container with ingradients listed.  This is to ensure the safety of all our children.

What is CAPS?  Do you accept it?

CAPS is a state funded program to assist low income parents with childcare tuition. We do accept CAPS familes upon approval. To see if you qualify, go to: www.compass.ga.gov.

What are your student-teacher ratios?

We follow state guidelines as set forth by Bright from the Start. State ratios are as follows:

    1 yr. old:                        8:1

    2 yrs. old:                     10:1

    Before & After Care:      20:1

For more information about state childcare guidelines visit the Bright from the Start website:  www.decal.ga.gov

What are your teacher qualifications?

Our teachers either hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate or Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE). Our teachers are continuously being trained on new requirements from Bright from the Start.

Are you open on holidays?

Our center will be closed only in observance of the following holidays, please note that full tuition will still be due for those weeks.

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day and the day after
  • Christmas Day and the day after, depending on how the holiday falls during the week

Our Georgia Pre-K program operates on the Gwinnett County Public Schools calendar, following all holidays and workdays.

What is your policy for emergency weather?

In the case of inclement weather, such as heavy snow or icy roads, we post our closings on WSB TV and FOX 5 news & website. We basically follow Gwinnett County Schools. If Gwinnett County Schools are closed, all of our locations are closed. If Gwinnett County delays opening, we will also delay.  Our staff and family safety comes first.  Should inclement weather occur in the middle of the day, we ask that you pick up as soon as possible.

Please note that full tuition will still be due if the center is closed or opened late due to inclement weather.

Will you help my child with potty training / toilet training?

Yes. Once a child is developmentally ready to begin and shows interest we will start the process of toilet training. We feel that it takes a partnership between the staff, parents and children to have a successful, positive toilet training experience. Patience and positive support will be given to children and their parents as they go through this learning experience together.
